WINTER AREA QUALIFIERS 2012
******NEW FOREST RC SADDLECOTHES******
As announced at the AGM, all members competing in BRC official area events in 2012 will be issued with a New Forest Riding Club Saddlecloth which will be theirs to keep.
Some important points to remember about area competitions:
We always like to encourage all members capable of competing at the relevant level to enter area events and will try our best to include you either as an individual (where allowed) or in a team once you have sent your form in. Please ensure you let me know if at any point you no longer wish to take part.
The riding club will pay all preliminary entry fees but the competitor will be expected to pay the schedule entry fees. These will be communicated to you as soon as we have a copy of the schedule, normally 6 weeks before the event, sometimes sooner.
We try and contact interested members as soon as the schedule is out to sort out final teams and entries; this is normally 6-8 weeks before the event. We then have to confirm all our entries with BRC 3 and a half weeks before the event, and are committed to paying for these entries from that point. This is why we ask for your commitment so far in advance of an event.
Flu certificates/passports must be fully up to date and accurate throughout the history. Some small discrepancies are allowed prior to 2006, please check with me or the BRC website if you are unsure about your horse flu jabs.
Full rules and regs for each event can be found online at the BRC website or alternatively please contact me if you have any specific event queries.
In order to enter teams for these events we have to have 2 helpers per team so if you have a friend or relative who can volunteer please let me know. Alternatively if you just want to help then this would be very much appreciated by the team members, helping is a great way to learn more about these events and maybe give it a go yourself in future!

PREVIOUS AREA EVENTS
Dressage:
Area Dressage at Sparsholt Sunday 15th January 2012
Twenty three Senior Teams and seven Junior Teams competed with 4 members in each team. The Dressage was ridden at a very high standard with two members riding Novice 24 and two riding Prelim 18.
Our New Forest Riding Club had two teams entered and our Green Team came 5th which was very exciting. Kelly Jenson on Hector’s Valentine N24, Nina Clarke on Handiman N24, Alison Russell on Smokey Joe II P18 and Debbie Prince on Backley Blue Mist, Debbie came first in her Arena.
Our Juniors Rachel Christopher on Naoimi came 1st in her Arena N24, Lizzie Boswell on Carnaval News came 2nd in her Arena N24, Anna Dunford on Samsons Sparks came 2nd in her arena P18 and Katy Evans on Vrashbo came 3rd in her arena P18. The team came 1st overall with just 1 point in front of Isle of Wight. It was a very exciting finish in darkness and we were told Isle of Wight had won until Rachael spotted the mistake, we had won by 1 point and now the team are off to Hartpury College for the Nationals. What an achievement.
We also had members entered in the Windsor Qualifier. Junior, Georgina Hall-Raine on Sam who came 3rd, Seniors Debbie Prince on Backley Blue Mist who came 2nd and Becky Stephens on Faerie Jet. Kelly Jenson on Hector entered the last class which was pick your own test and she came 4th. Well done to all.
I would like to thank Norris and Sons Ltd 2011 who sponsored our numnahs which made us look very smart.

Show Jumping Nationals
18th September, Lincoln
Kate Lock and Alice Francis (Junior Member representing the club) had a good journey to the Nationals and home. Alice jumped clear on Marvellous May in the first round then, unfortunately, had the first fence down in the second round. Kate and Alice were both gutted as May is always a really reliable clean jumper and there was no reason except she didn’t pick a toe up. Well this has fired up Alice for next years qualifiers, what a great experience well done to you both.
SEIB National Horse Trials Championships
5th August 2011 – Aston-le-Walls
A fantastic well done to our junior member Lizzie Boswell, who qualified for the Championships on her horse Carnaval News, and was placed 7th – what an achievement!
NAF National Championships
17/18 September – Lincoln
Junior member, Alice Francis is making the trip to Lincoln to represent our club in the Junior Novice show jumping with Marvellous May, so we wish her every success.
